Auto-control Solution for Smelter's Sulfuric Acid Plant

System Introduction

The smelter's sulfuric acid plant is an essential part of nonferrous metal smelting process. However, sulfuric acid is highly corrosive, threatening the safety of both the workers’ health and the equipment, and the quality and efficiency in sulfuric acid production still have room for improvement. With this in mind, the automatic production of sulfuric acid plant has become a priority for equipment upgrading and the safety in production.

System Requirements

Operate safely and reliably, easy to maneuver.
Accurately measure the data of each point in the plant, like temperature, flux, etc.
Control all the equipment of the production line such as motors, valves, etc.
Directly display various data of the production line.

System Principle
As there are lots of data acquisition points in the plant, the system adopts star topology. One EVOC Core2 Duo platform computer serves as the host computer and two Pentium4 computers as data acquisition computers. They are connected through network hub. Each data acquisition computer is equipped with built-in PCL-813 analog data acquisition card and PCL-7241 digital I/O card for onsite data acquisition and control.
The thermocouple and RTD signals coming from the production line are transmitted into PCL-813 through PCLD-789D and PCLD-16RTD. The signals such as flux and liquid level are transmitted into PCL-813 through PCLD-880. The field data is analyzed by the system and output to control field equipment such as motors, valves, etc.

System Evaluation
The system introduces industrial PC to control production, not only improving productivity and product quality but also reducing pollutants that are hazardous to the health of workers and the environment.
