EVOC Becomes World´s First Embedded Gold Partner of Microsoft

About embedded system

EVOC Launches First New-generation High-speed Serial Bus VPX Products in Asia

September 21, at the Technical Seminar Area of the Sixth World Radar Fair, EVOC launched new-generation high-speed serial bus VPX products, and became the first manufacturer in Asia to possess the R&D and batch production capability and receive orders for this product series.

Liu Xin and Liu Hui, leaders from China Computer Industry Association, and Sun Bolin, an industry expert, gave speeches on the occasion where EVOC launched the new VPX series. Mr. David Xiao, General Manager of Marketing and Sales of EVOC Intelligent said: "Embedded and industrial computers are in the vanguard of China' s computing R&D. In recent years, the government has been pushing for integration of information technology into industrial applications and transferring military R&D to civil and commercial use. This helps EVOC redouble R&D efforts to develop high-speed serial bus VPX technology. It is incumbent on us to develop such products, and it also makes commercial sense to do so. Our 2-year strenuous efforts culminated in this new series."

Introducing VPX into IPC R&D is a recent development, to which only a few IPC developers have been devoted. The 2-year R&D stage involved countless R&D of market research, expert panel meetings and product tests. The entire process was full of setbacks and challenges. In the end of 2010, EVOC successfully completed R&D on VPX series. This was truly a remarkable success.
Currently, VPX products target high-end control systems mainly used in military applications, aviation and aerospace. With the capability to meet the high standards and requirements of radar, sonar, video graphics processing and intelligent signal processing, VPX products can serve in land-based, vehicle-mounted, airborne and vessel-mounted command systems. However, VPX products, which are well known as new-generation bus product for military-purpose rugged systems, are not confined to military uses. With outstanding features like powerful computing capability, high-speed and wide bandwidth transmission, capability to withstand extreme harsh environments, VPX products are bound to generate far-reaching repercussion for embedded and industrial control field. It can be predicted that the advanced VPX technology will gradually become the mainstream serial bus standards on the market and lead the development trend of embedded and industrial computing technology by triggering a new wave of development and reforms.

Auto-control Solution for Smelter's Sulfuric Acid Plant

System Introduction

The smelter's sulfuric acid plant is an essential part of nonferrous metal smelting process. However, sulfuric acid is highly corrosive, threatening the safety of both the workers’ health and the equipment, and the quality and efficiency in sulfuric acid production still have room for improvement. With this in mind, the automatic production of sulfuric acid plant has become a priority for equipment upgrading and the safety in production.

System Requirements

Operate safely and reliably, easy to maneuver.
Accurately measure the data of each point in the plant, like temperature, flux, etc.
Control all the equipment of the production line such as motors, valves, etc.
Directly display various data of the production line.

System Principle
As there are lots of data acquisition points in the plant, the system adopts star topology. One EVOC Core2 Duo platform computer serves as the host computer and two Pentium4 computers as data acquisition computers. They are connected through network hub. Each data acquisition computer is equipped with built-in PCL-813 analog data acquisition card and PCL-7241 digital I/O card for onsite data acquisition and control.
The thermocouple and RTD signals coming from the production line are transmitted into PCL-813 through PCLD-789D and PCLD-16RTD. The signals such as flux and liquid level are transmitted into PCL-813 through PCLD-880. The field data is analyzed by the system and output to control field equipment such as motors, valves, etc.
